	SUMMER 2010

	Spraying strip tilled soybeans.		See the soybeans growing from the "STRIP" of strip tillage.

	The summer of 2010 brought with it lots of rain.		The creek out of its banks on the Smeltzer #4 farm.

	The tiles ran full most of the summer!		See the water covering the road at Jct of 169 and Business Hwy 20.

	This years corn crop was average at best. Too much moisture.		A mothers day frost set the corn plants back about 1-2 weeks.

	See the frost damages to the corn.		The corn stand was reduced due to the frost. This effected yield.

	By split feeding the nitrogen we are reducing the chance for potential nitrogen loss into streams and water.  Plus we are feeding the crop when it needs it.		The 2010 crop had a great start.

	Strip tillage is really "CONVENTIONAL TILLAGE", we just do it in a 8" wide strip.		A view from the tractor while sidedressing nitrogen.
