  WINTER 2013

In March, Dave spent the day at John Deere Corporate in Ankeny, Iowa visiting with a group of Ukrainian Farmers about Strip Till. They are John Deere dealers and customers from the Ukraine that are looking at integrating Strip Tillage into their farming operations.        After the fall work was done, we bring everything in the shop for a good cleaning.

The 8420 went into Harcourt Equipment for a inspection and a repair on the hood.   The CAT also went in for the annual inspection.  There was a bearing starting to wear on the boogie wheels so we had it replaced.

Out with the Old 24 row planter and in with the new 32 Row planter.  The winter will be spent installing new BETA testing equipment on the 32 row planter.   32 new E-Set Corn meters installed.  These are the meters that go on each row unit of the planter.

The new planter in the shop.  We will install the latest technology from Precision Planting.  1 Beta testing product from Precision Planting.  And 2 liquid fertilizer systems.
Gary and karma were able to get a southern vacation in this winter.  They took their camper and headed south after Christmas.

There were 3 finalists for the Top Producer of the Year Award.
 Dave being one of them.
The Nelson Family after Dave's Finalist Award of Top
Producer of the Year.

The Top Producer of the Year was awarded to Luke Brubaker of Pennsylvania.   The winter snow being caught up in the corn stalks.  Leaving the stalks stand allows for snow to be caught and slow down the wind from causing wind erosion.

No more markers.   We have not used the markers on the planter for 3 years now.  So, on our new planter, we took the markers off.  No need to carry the extra weight.

The 4020 is pulled out of the shop and is ready to go back to our local mechanic who will start the new motor.   Justin Olson one of our Precision Ag Technicians run our corn meters on the test stand to check for accuracy.
