  SUMMER 2011

Dave and Gary team up to spray acres.  Gary does the spraying, Dave hauls water and chemicals.   Dave helping Gary Fill the sprayer.  We can haul 3 sprayer fills in our enclosed van trailer.

Karma and Gary Mowing Ditches.  Each summer many hours are spent keeping our fields and driveways looking neat!

Karma can cut a pretty straight board!!!!

Fonda, being a couple months pregnant thought that supervising was a better idea than helping!   Grandpa took a break and Tyson thought tieing his boots together would make him rest longer!!!

Last summer it was the construction of the playhouse.  This summer Karma and Gary built the shop together!   Even Morgan and Tyson helped on the new shop.  Their gator was the perfect vehicle for picking up scrap wood!

It made us flexible while hanging in the air 15-20' in the air.   All the buildings on our farm have been built ourselves.  Gary and Karma have built the house, the big machine shed, now this shop.  The old Quonset was built by Peter Nelson back in the early 1900's.

Lifting the first Truss into place.   We ended up with 70 attending farmers from Central Iowa.

On hand to represent NEW COOP and answer many questions was Grant Klever.  The local Agronomist for NEW COOP.   Gary and Karma did 99% of the work themselves.  When time allowed, Dave and Tyson would lend a hand.  Here is when we put on the roof trusses.

This summer Gary and Karma built a new shop at their farmstead.  60' x 60'.  A beautiful addition to the farm.   The crop of 2011 was fast growing and very healthy in June and July.  Timely rains made for a great start to the yields we obtained.

The previous corn crop residue remains inbetween the new soybean rows.  The residue is moved aside when we strip till the fall before.   You can see the old corn row still entact to the soil in this years strip tilled CORN ON CORN crop.

Our tour guide at the Chicago board of trade.   In July, Dave and Fonda traveled to Chicago to visit on of our Landlords.  We also got to tour the Chicago board of trade.  This was taken in "THE PIT".

Pictures taken by the sign out front of Brokaw Supply!   Our in a soybean field that we strip tilled.

Our Girls   Gary and Karma Nelson

Dave and Fonda and Kids enjoyed a trip to Montana this summer.   The next generation...

Tyson scored 82 points on Saturday night and 85 points on Sunday Finals

Tyson working his rope for the
National Finals Mini Bullriding Finals
Tyson ended up winning the points championship in the
